Equipment & Reading

The following are considered standard by working practitioners. Links open on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate this site earns from qualifying purchases.

Instruments

  • Starrett Professional Boning Knife 6″ — Narrow straight profile, sanitised steel. The preferred instrument for hepatic and splenic incision. White handle denotes abdominal work under HACCP colour-coding conventions.
  • Starrett Boning Knife 8″ — For larger subjects. The additional length provides clearance when working around the diaphragmatic attachments of the right lobe.

Protective Equipment

  • Nitrile Examination Gloves ×100 — Powder-free, latex-free. Worn throughout the examination. Replace between subjects. Size M covers most practitioners; order L if you find grip compromised at the fingertips.
  • Meat Absorbent Pads ×100 (180×100 mm) — Placed beneath the organ during surface examination. Prevents lateral migration and preserves the reading surface. Standard tray pad specification.
